JPG quality setting guide

The quality slider controls the trade-off between visual detail and file size. It does not represent a guaranteed percentage of the original image quality.

Quality range Typical use What to check
60–74 Thumbnails, previews or situations where a small file matters most Watch for blockiness, colour banding and lost texture
75–89 Practical range for many photographs, email attachments and upload forms Inspect faces, text, gradients and fine edges
90–100 Images where retaining more visible detail matters more than maximum savings Confirm that the larger output is still suitable

What changes when PNG becomes JPG?

For images that contain sharp text, icons or transparency, keeping the original PNG may produce a cleaner result. For ordinary photographs, JPG may be more practical when compatibility or file size matters.
