Why convert HEIC to JPG?

Many iPhones save photos as HEIC because it can store high-quality images more efficiently than JPG. Compatibility remains the main reason to convert: some forms, websites, printers, editors and older systems still expect JPG.

HEIC to JPG

JPG is usually the practical option for photos. It works almost everywhere and normally produces a smaller file than PNG. It uses lossy compression, so the quality setting affects visible detail and file size.

HEIC to PNG

PNG avoids an additional lossy JPG encoding step after the HEIC image is decoded. It does not restore information already discarded by HEIC compression, and the output can be significantly larger.
